| Our Primary and Focal Beads are Handmade Lampworked Glass Beads, made from Efferte, Vetrofond or Lauscha soft glass. We have also just added Borosilicate glass to our inventory. All Beads and "Hot Worked" pieces have been Properly cleaned and Kiln Annealed for Strength and Durability. *** Lampworking is the ancient art of melting glass using the heat of an oil lamp with a blow pipe to direct the heat toward the glass. Today we use specialized torches to generate the heat necessary to melt the glass allowing the artist to shape and form the glass to their design. A quality piece will have been properly "kiln annealed". This relieves the stresses in the glass caused while heating and shaping. This allows the glass to return to it's original Strength and Durability. *** |
